Even in these uncertain times people still need to fly. If its a border run to renew a visa, an urgent need to see a relative or maybe you are lucky enough to be heading to a place that accepts the U. S. Passport. Either way there is a smart way to travel during these unprecedented times we are living in. Merida was a great city to ride out the effects of Covid-19 in. It was safe; meaning the local politicians and citizens took (and are taking) the threat seriously. We are still in the mist of this global thorn and we are emerging from a city-wide quarantine in stages. Like most of the expats here, we have been itching to get back out and start safely enjoying this thriving city. We are remote workers and love when we can set up shop in a local coffee house but all coffee shops are not created equal. Merida is still a great city. It could be proving to be even better than we originally thought. Covid-19 has caused this city to shine. We are learning a lot about Merida while living through the Covid-19 pandemic and quarantine here. The “time-out” that the world has been forced to take has helped us to open our eyes and understand Merida, the city, on a more intimate and political level. We are definitely more tied into the politics than we ever wanted to be. As foreigners here during a virus attack that is primarily brought here by foreigners we are also very tuned into how the people are reacting to our presence.
